How an abundance of values caused a liquor shortage

Don’t fret. This is not a teetotaler’s tale.

Anna Havron was once a healthcare researcher and a professional organizer. She’s now a pastor. #BigBrain #BigHeart

She recently gave a talk to a group of bloggers about defining a personal “Values Plan.” Here’s her talk and a handout she made to go with it.

BONUS: She made a drawing, too.

As her main example, she shares about the Carthusian monks who’ve been making the liqueur Chartruese since 1737, and who have recently decided to scale back their production (causing a worldwide shortage). Why would they do that?

In order to live according to their pre-defined values.

The monks know their values because of their order’s Rule of Life, and Havron reminds us that we, too, can/should have a Personal Rule of Life.
