You should Know About Halflinger Slippers

There was a ten-year period when I travelled extensively. I was on a plane or in a car for a 2-3 night trip at least twice a month.

When you travel that much, being away from home starts to loose it’s shine. You find that every hotel room really does look the same, and you find yourself wishing to be in your own bed with your own sheets and sitting in your own chair.

There are a few things you can do when you travel to make it feel less fragmenting.

My best friend taught me if you’re going to be in a place more than one night: unpack. Take your clothes out of your suitcase and put them in drawers. You would be amazed at how well this works giving you a sense of “settledness” in a temporary place.

For me, it is items that make me feel comfortable, so, when I pack to go on a trip, the very first thing into my bag is my pair of slippers. Having slippers when I am in a hotel or Airbnb absolutely ground me. I feel less foreign and more at home. It’s my best packing tip.

I have been using a pair of Halflinger wool hard sole slippers (in grey speckle) for almost a decade.

I wear them every day. Even in the summer. The Amazing thing about wool is it’s temperature regulation properties. I tend to run cold, and my feet are always at the right temp with these on.

Plus, they are hard soled, so a quick trip out to the car is not out of the question. I can sit on the back patio as easily as on the couch.

Just two years ago, I had to buy my second pair. Given an average American life expectancy, I might have to buy 5-6 more pair to get me through the end of my life.

That’d be a good investment, as far as I’m concerned.
