Notes on our supposed progress

Good is the Enemy of Best

The biggest mistake of my youth was in thinking that if I couldn’t do it all right now it wasn’t worth doing. It took a long time for me to learn the value of “the drip.”

And then there was the day when I realized “shooting for the moon” was a good idea. Even if I didn’t succeed, I might “hit the stars.”

We want the best and to be the best. We want success and we want it right now.

But the more I learn and grow the more I become convinced that showing up every day and trying to do the best thing I can do is the way to make a dent in this world.
