I think you will appreciate this

Gabe thinks the words “I thought you might like this” is an act of vulnerability. He’s right, but that’s not what a lot of people say.

I can’t count the times I’ve been told “Landon, you will LOVE this.” Unless it’s my wife or close friends, I almost always do not like it. Even then, they are wrong more than they are right.

A few years ago, I stopped telling people I think they will like or love something. What I say instead is: “I think you will appreciate this.”

Telling someone they will appreciate something is evidence you have thought about things from their point of view. It communicates that you are putting them ahead of yourself.

You are not presuming to know what they will like, but you ARE giving them a compliment for being the kind of person who can see value in things that may not become a favorite.
